What is MT Build Tiny Living?
Tiny homes have become incredibly popular over the past few years, and have really come a long way from their initial designs.
The MT Build team has created a range of tiny living units that incorporate efficiencies in space use while enjoying beautiful design innovation. They act as a flexible extension to home when you need a bit of extra space for growing teenagers, visiting grandparents or other guests.
Additionally, tiny living units are a great option for creating an office or studio space that is part of your property, but somewhat removed so you can maintain some separation between work and home.
No building consent required
With changes made to the New Zealand Building Act, as of August 2020, you can add a tiny living unit to expand your living or working-from-home space with no building consent needed.
The regulations state, in summary, that a single story detached building of up to 30 sqm (containing no plumbing) does not require a building consent if carried out by a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP).
